PSALM 15:5 Never Be Moved
READ: HEBREWS 12:18–29
V. 5 “He who does these things shall never be moved.”
Humans are constantly active and on the go, yet actively moving ourselves differs greatly from being unexpectedly shaken or displaced. Tremors from a major earthquake serve as a powerful example of this: we naturally expect the earth under our feet to remain solid and firm. When that foundational expectation is shattered, a deep sense of vulnerability sets in, leaving people anxious at even the slightest vibration.
Beyond physical ground, life's unpredictable trials can just as easily throw us off balance. Unexpected loss, failing health, emotional stress, disappointment, and personal failures frequently strike at our core, exposing how fragile our human self-reliance truly is. Finding enduring stability within a fallen world full of instability and turmoil is a common human longing.
When King David writes that the righteous person will remain steadfast, his certainty stems from an unshakeable foundation. The New Testament illuminates this truth further, describing an eternal, immovable kingdom established on Jesus Christ—the ultimate foundation and spiritual rock (Heb. 12:28; 1 Cor. 10:4). While human strength fails—much like Moses trembling in awe before God's holy presence—faith in Christ offers total security. Through Him, believers receive the full forgiveness of sins, complete reconciliation with God, and the unshakeable promise of everlasting life.
While this assurance does not spare believers from experiencing real adversity or spiritual trial, it provides an unshakable anchor. Those anchored in Christ belong to a kingdom that can never be destroyed, allowing them to declare with unwavering confidence that they will remain secure through every storm.
